Volunteer
Opportunities

Maintaining and expanding SSWC takes a tremendous amount of work.
There is concrete to be poured, buildings to
be painted, grass to be mowed, plants to be watered, crafts and baked
goods to be made for fundraising events, tours to be guided …
You get
the idea.
Serenity Springs Wildlife Center truly appreciates all of the people who
choose to spend some of their free time helping us keep the sanctuary a safe, happy
home for our residents. If you would like to be added to our
group of outstanding, talented volunteers, we want to meet you!
Please feel free to
email our Volunteer Coordinator with any
questions or to be included on the email list for the next volunteer
orientation.
How do you become a volunteer?
Be prepared to complete the
following requirements prior to orientation:
1. There is a non-refundable $50
charge to run a basic background check. We run a high level background check
for several reason: We talk with the public, work with kids, work
around expensive equipment and work with dangerous animals. Trust is a
big factor when volunteering here, we want to trust you!
2. You
must attend least
one guided tour at the sanctuary prior to your orientation.
3. You must be at least 18
years old.
4. Please provide two professional character references.
Once you are a volunteer, we ask you assist with at least 15 guided tours and become certified to host tours
before supporting other special projects. We also ask that you commit to volunteer at the facility a
minimum of once a month for 8 hours to remain active.
Our next volunteer orientation will be
held date TBD in the Education Center at
SSWC. If you would like to attend, please
email our Volunteer Coordinator for details.
It is SSWC's policy that volunteers are not permitted to touch
any animals or animal enclosure fencing at any time.
