Baby

Baby
arrived at SSWC on July 8, 2009 as part of the rescue from a
private facility called Walk
on the Wildside in AR. She was one of eight mountain lions that
was left/found on a mountain top with no hope of finding a home
until Walk on the Wildside took her in. When Julie and Nick
went to pick her up and bring her to SSWC, they are told she
loves playing with her toys and “kills” them during feeding
time. We are looking forward to watching her play after she
settles in.
When Baby was
younger she was spayed. She seemed to do ok right after surgery, but as the
days progressed she was unable to eat. Her owners tried everything to get
her to eat, but she’d take a bite and then just turn away. After conferring
with another facility, they tried giving her Pepcid and Carafate. A few
days on the medication and after 18 days of being unable to eat, Baby was
finally eating again. A “nervous ulcer” brought on by the surgery,
which would have killed her had not been diagnosed, caused her to stop
eating. When you come out to see Baby, you'll see she is now a healthy
cougar. She is settling into her new enclosure and getting to know her
roommate, Clyde.
Savannah

Savannah, the only lioness at SSWC,
arrived in April of 2005. She was born in 2000 and is a retired
movie star. She starred in the movie "Second Hand Lions" as a
cub. Well known animal trainer, Steve Martin, trained her for
several years before she grew tired of performing. She is one
of our largest cats and loves to roar with the boys! Come out
and meet her, she is a very lovely lady!
